Lost- 4.4- The Constant- Desmond-centric

February 28, 2008 at 6:06 pm (Lost)

We now have four episodes down, two more before the break! This one was Desmond-centric. What did we learn about Desmond? Did they make it to the freighter? Did Desmond have some more flashes? What were your thoughts? Where does this one rank according to this season?

wow, that was enough to make your head hurt, huh? so people who leave the island can be killed from side effects? There has to be more to this constant thing, and what is going to happen in the future. I liked the end with Desmond and Penny.

It seems like the boat is sent by Widmore, as he is very interested in the mystery of the island and exploiting it. he was buying the logbook of the Black Rock, which was the slave ship that crashed on the island. It was captained by Hanso’s grandfather, or something like that.

Leah had a good theory: We know that Minkowski, his friend, and Desmond have gotten sick from going to and from the island. Apparently you have to be exposed to radiation (Dan) or electromagnetism (Desmond) and then you get sick.

What if this is what happened to Danielle’s people? She wouldn’t have been exposed to those things, since she was pregnant. what do you think?

That was a really great episode. The end with Desmond and Penny was soooo sweet!
Maybe what happend to Desmond is why certain people stay in the island- or maybe some try to get off and are killed.
    Who is Danielle?

My question is….how does this relate to Desmond’s “flashes” on the island. I assume they are the result of his being exposed to a high level of magnetism, but there are apparently lots of people “flashing” in and out of time. Remember the lady he spoke to last season?

It sounds like you have to:
    1. Have been exposed to large doses of radiation or magnetism
    2. Be near or on the island.

I’m assuming that the young scientist has a traveling conscience. He meets both of the above requirements. If he hasn’t had it happen to him yet, then he certainly expects it to since he has chosen Desmond as he constant.

The last scene was great! They played it very well…sigh…
