I am thoroughly loving this year’s episodes so far! How sweet that Desmond named his son “Charlie”. [I doubt he was named after Penny's father.] I had to laugh when he went in barging into Widmore’s office after telling Penny they would stay off the radar and her father would never know they were there. But apparently his fear for Penny’s safety, due to Ben’s threat, outweighed his dislike of Desmond.

So Widmore was once on the island. The young Widmore had such attitude, I can guess he would run into problems eventually. Somehow he had to leave the island. Why did so many of the Others have English accents? Where did they originally come from? The pirate ship? Chances seem good that the female soldier “Ellie” grows up to be Eloise Hawking. If Mrs. Hawking does turn out to be Faraday’s mom, then that would explain why he was so comfortable around the young “Ellie”. He didn’t seem to be concerned that she would shoot him.

I did get a little confused about the old girlfriend of Daniel’s, who he had sent through time. I thought she was Charlotte at first, but guess not. I am concerned about Charlotte. She needs a “constant”.

    that…..was…..awesome!

“Shut up Widmore!” “Charles Widmore?” “Yeah, what’s it to you?” followed by a priceless smirk by Locke.

And Ellie has to be his mom. We all theorized it after last week, and now that we know she’s in California, that lady’s name is Eloise and he was looking at her like that, we know it.

I think the old girlfriend wasn’t abandoned. There isn’t a bad bone in Faraday’s body. He probably left her in order to save her. They think she’s just catatonic, but there is more to it.

What happened to make Widmore, Ellie, and Richard have a falling out? And we thought Dharma was run by Widmore. Did he get more control and kick the others and Richard into hiding, or does he not have anything to do with dharma?

The Others seem to “borrow” the belongings of the intruders they kill. In this week’s episode they had the uniforms, weapons and tents from the US Army soldiers they killed. [Loved Faraday's line to Miles when they walk over the graves, "Did they say what year it is?"] Then we know they take over the Dharma houses & supplies when they are all killed. But where did they originally come from? I’m still leaning towards that pirate ship.

The bad karma between Ben and Widmore goes way back. Didn’t Widmore say to Ben once, “I know who you are (or where you come from?), boy.”?

So Desmond, Penny & little Charlie are headed to LA… where Ben & his cohorts and the “6″ are. Wouldn’t Desmond have to return also? Although there is supposed to be something different about him. How would they get him to leave his family? [to protect them?] What about Walt? Although they let Walt and his Dad go… so maybe there are only certain people who have to be there.

I’m wondering why Mrs. Hawking was working on such an old computer? Why isn’t she using a modern one? Maybe she has to use an old program that will only run on an old computer…

So many questions…I thought this season was going to be about answering questions. I am sad though because I don’t want Lost to ever end. I think they could have gone on forever with all the flash backs of their lives; there was enough material there for a lifetime.
Can soneone refresh my memory, how did Walt re-enter society? I know how he actually came back BUT what I mean is I can’t remember if his grandmother never told anyone who he was. Does he just live as someone else? He must be a secret survivor but how? And what about Frank the helecopter pilot?

mom- i heard someone talking about how they take everyone’s things and how they are like the Borg. they don’t have a culture of their own, they just exist and use what they can take from others.

lojo- walt escaped with his dad after michael turned in Jack, Kate, Sawyer, and Hurley. they left on the boat and started life over in NY city under an alias.

  6. BethsMomToo said,

Walt’s grandmother hasn’t revealed his identity to anybody, as I recall. She just keeps attention away from him. She did bring him to see Hurley, but she seemed pretty furtive about it.

    oooooh….the Borg! Scary!

Nehemiah’s opinion of this episode was that one of his teachers is Penny Widmore in her spare time.

Two of my favorite comments made on other sites:
I think that we are going to learn in a future episode that the bomb is actually Hurley and Kate’s illegitimate son who is really Jack’s brother from 1955. This makes the bomb related to Claire by way of being her son’s uncle.
Regarding the 4 toed statue. Remember last week sawyer stepped on something nasty and had to yank it out of his bare foot. theory: Sawyer loses toe, time skips waaay back, does something heroic, they erect a statue to our 4 toed friend.
    Interesting facts on hydrogen bombs:

I just had an idea. You know all those appearances on the island? Mr. Eko’s brother… the black horse Sawyer & Kate saw… Walt… What if they were time traveling like Locke & Sawyer & Faraday and company? What if they were really there… but out of time?

Looking at Beth’s link I was surprised to see the Cephalonia is also an Ionian island. There’s an island with the same name on the western side of Greece, next to the island Odysseus was from. One of Dad’s customers has a home there and that’s where we were supposed to go for several days, but the airline changed the flight and we ended up missing our flight. Bummer.

I’m familiar with Samos, but I never knew it had also called Cephalonia. Interesting.

As another sign that Locke is probably not really dead [maybe he used the same stuff as the two idiot characters who were buried alive - those two had to somehow be significant to the overall story]. The carpet cleaning truck that brought Locke’s body to the butcher shop said “Canton Rainier” on the side…. an anagram for “reincarnation”.
[...like the name of the Undertaker where Locke's body was on view - "Hoffs-Drawlar" Funeral Parlor = flash forward.]

  12. ehudadams said,

i think he did actually die, but because of time travel/island powers, they can reverse it.

  13. BethsMomToo said,

That would be significant for why they’re maintaining the body in a meat cooler. And it seems important to preserve Locke’s body and bring him back.

I was thinking about the circular notion of cause and effect with the time travel element. Richard Alpert went to see little John Locke because Locke had gone back in time and told him about the future event. The Others were excited when Locke showed up as an adult, had expected it…. because of his claim in the “past” that he was their leader. Hmmm… which came first…the chicken or the egg? Locke told them he was the leader because it had happened in the future. But did he CAUSE it to happen by going back into the past and telling Richard? My head hurts…

  14. lojo said,

I thought the same thing about the horses and other strange things on the island. Maybe they were really there and they were time traveling.

yeah Deb I remembered HOW walt got back. But I couldn;t remember if they were living with an alias or what. why don’t they need to go back?
